For Sept. 17th: properties of water, pH, acids, bases and buffers.

As mentioned in class and in a previous blog post, please come to class prepared to discuss material in Biology chapter 2. We’ll discuss properties of water, pH, acids, bases and buffers, as well as do some octet rule exercises if time permits.

Below is the video we watched in class on Monday. What properties of water are exemplified in it?

  1. Within Chapter 2, there was a section that talked about “aqueous acids” and “aqueous bases”, as well as acidic and basic solutions. I am having trouble understanding this concept, could we go over it further in class?Thank you!
